Hopepunk and The Seeds We Planted Together
Our community gathered for CityCamp Eugene 2025 – and we’re still feeling the ripple effects.
Life moved quickly after the event (as it always does), but we didn’t want too much time to pass without pausing to reflect.
CityCamp wasn’t just a one-day gathering. It was a space for connection. For imagination. For honest conversations about what’s working in our city – and what could be better.
What Happened When We Gathered
Neighbors, technologists, public servants, creatives, students, and curious community members came together with one shared purpose – To collaborate on ideas that make our community stronger.
There’s no audience – only participants. Everyone helps shape the agenda. Everyone contributes.
Throughout the day, we saw:
- New partnerships form between people who hadn’t met before
- Lively discussions about housing, civic tech, community resilience, and community care
- Practical skill-sharing and brainstorming sessions
- Stick notes with ideas that are still unfolding
- A room full of people willing to show up and contribute
CityCamp reminded us that civic innovation doesn’t start in a policy document – it starts in conversation.
And conversation is where change begins.
The Power of Hopepunk
Not every idea becomes a fully formed project overnight. That’s not the point.
CityCamp is about planting seeds:

Some seeds have already sprouted – follow-up meetings, shared Slack threads, new collaborations in motion.
Others are still underground, quietly gathering energy.
That’s how community work happens.
